Hola, chicos:
Mucha suerte.

By Hovercraft or by Ferryboat? / LEVEL 3
Today some people would rather travel across the Neglish Channel by hovercraft than by ferryboat for seceral reasons. First of all, a hovercraft, which rides on a cushion of air above the water, is newer and more exciting than a ferryboat. The first service across the channel was inaugurated in the summer of 1968. Second, the trip by hovercraft is smoother because the vehicle skims over the waves. Therefore, people who get seasick easily should have no trouble even when the sea is rough. Third and most important, a hovercraft travels so muchfaster than a ferryboat than many people prefer it. The world’ s largest hovercraft can travel at the rate of 60 miles per hour. It frequently makes the 26-mile trip from Dover to Boulogne in only thirty-five minutes. This is nearly an hour less than it takes by ferry. Although a trip by hovercraft is more expensive than a trip by ferry, the difference at present is only $2.16. Many people who have to cross the channel are willing to pay this difference for a more exciting, smoother, and faster trip.
A VISIT TO A GERMANY / LEVEL 2
A vistor to Germany must plan his time carefully because there are many things to see and do. Geramany has big ctities, picturesque medieval towns, and lovely forests and mountains, If a traveler likes the excitement of a large city, he should visit Hamburg, Berlin, or Munich. Each of these cities has its own special charm. If a person enjoys the past, he ought to explore and old fortress town such as Dinkelsbühl or Rothenburg in southern Germany. Here he can wander through narrow, crooked streets or even walk on the original city wall. If a tourists finds the beauty and peacefulness of nature attractive, he should go to one of the wooded areas of Germany. The Black Forest is very famous, but the Bavarian Woods near Czechoslovakia and the Odenwald in central Germany are just as lovely. If a visitor plans his time and activities well, he will certainly enjoy his stay in Germany.
Three of the largest Cities in the World / LEVEL 1
The following cities are among the largest in the world: Tokyo, London, and New York. Do you know any specific facts about the size, age and attractions of these three cities? According to the statistics which most references give, Tokyo has the largest population of the three with over nine million inhabitants. London, however, is the largest in area, covering over six hundred square miles. New York is almost as large. Furthermore, London is much older than either Tokyo or New York. Its recorded history goes back to A.D. 43. Tokyo is the second oldest; it really began as a fortress in 1457. New York, which the Dutch settled in 1624, is without doubt the youngest. Today these three cities offer many attractions, despite of you cannot actually see the tallest man-made structure in the world, the New york Trade Center (1,350 feet), in New York. In Tokyo, you can see the fourth tallest tower, The TV tower (a little over 1000 feet high). The two most important theater districts in the world are in London and New York. Moreover, these two cities are leading fashion centers. All three cities are the most important commercial, financial, shipping, and cultural centers of their countries.
